Doin’ the ‘Deid

Well, everyone, the moment you’ve all been eagerly awaiting for has arrived. The pics from <non-releasable location> have arrived. What I’ll do is walk you through a little short story, which may or may not be entertaining. So, choose to read along or skip ahead to the pics – it’s your choice…

First of all, here are the pics of me, prior to my haircut:

I figured I’d do this Gary Busey-style, with the police line-up mugshot atmosphere, “Face front, now face right” effect. Too bad I didn’t have a number to hold up in front of me.

Next, I decided to get creative and go for an “action” shot. I guess because I was in PT gear, “wrestler” came to mind, so I decided upon that particular pose for my shot. Yeah, corny, I know… Ro, I know you’re laughing at this one… LOL!!!

Now, for comparison, here are my “balded” pics:

Laugh it up, because it’ll all be grown back when I return…

Again, for comparison, here is that same “wrestler” pose… Yeah, definitely gotta get rid of the gut… I’m working on it.
Now, already in an “artistic” mood, I decided to make a play on Rodin’s Thinker sculpture and capture that mood. I’m hoping that you’re thinking that I’m thinking, “Why the hell did I bald myself???”, because I am. Hee hee. I’m hoping to visit the Rodin Museum in Paris. I’ll be able to see The Thinker, The Gates to Hell, and other cool pieces of Rodin art.

After realizing how damn silly I was being, I decided to “roll with it” and imitate a favorite character of mine: Dr. Evil. Now, I can’t play as good a Dr. Evil as my friend Clint, but I sure do come in at a close second, I think.

…And since I mentioned it earlier, here’s that pic of Curious George, just so that you can see why I keep comparing myself to him… Truth be told, I’ve also been compared to the Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles, as well (photos not included)…

Now, all kidding aside, here’s a brief look at the ‘Deid.:

There are a whole bunch of trailers here, and I live in one of them. That’s right, imagine saying to yourself every night as you’re walking home, “This is my trailer. There are many trailers like it, but this one is mine…” … hahaha!!! No, I don’t really say that, it just came to mind as I was typing this… Yup, I’m whacked like that. :) Anyway, this is the sign identifying my trailer… I think we need to get a 603rd ACOMS sticker sent to us, pronto, so that we can leave our mark!

People here seem to gather around a central place called “The Bra”. Now, from this first photo, you may be wondering why they call it so, but look at the following (blurred for dramatic effect) photo and you’ll see why…

This is why they call it “The Bra”… Notice the “Cross your heart” support?

During my time off (yes, I do get time off), I go to the theater (not shown), the morale PC center (not shown) or the track, where I am attempting to improve my run times. So far, this has had minimal impact, but I’m hoping to see progress by the end of the month. I wonder if all the good food that I’m eating might be hindering my progress. Hrmmm…

Apparently, the track is ¼ mile, plus 12 ft… So, 6 laps, minus 72 feet is not bad at all. They have it marked off, but it sure doesn’t look like they shorted the 1.5 mile mark by half. Oh well…
Finally, I have discovered a remarkable, naturally occurring phenomenon. Here it is… I call it Rock Maze — Yeah, I think my creative energy has all but fizzled out by now.

Just kidding… It appears to have been put here by those pesky people at the Chapel (church people always stirring up trouble! Just kidding, yo!)…. Maybe it’s there for you walk and ponder the meaning of life, work out your worries, or simply as a means of entertainment – which is what I used it for. Makes me want to design one with the new AF emblem… Hrmmm…
And there you have it, folks… A brief and hopefully slightly hilarious look at what it’s like for me here. Aside from work, the time off that I get is largely spent sleeping. I get a few hours off, after work, which I spend reading, which will soon morph into studying, but right now I’m just trying to get myself comfy. My roommate works Mids, which makes it quite a bit easier for us both, as we don’t have to worry about waking each other up in the middle of our sleep cycles. The room is a little crowded, but we manage (it’s only four months, right?). We’ve just rearranged it, and might end up changing it back, but we’ll see. I’ll take photos of that, next, and make it part of my next web project. :)

–Gooch out!

Finally…

Hey there, people! OK, I’ve found a way to keep my blog updated without having to go to MySpace. Unfortunately, if people are only checking MySpace, they’ll never see this. :(

But, as a quick update, here’s what’s up…

I’m now in <non-releasable location>, at the beginning of a 4-month rotation. I’ve recently shaved my head, and am running a contest, “Who’s cuter, me or Curious George?” Unfortunately, Mr. George is winning by a lot. hehehe… OK, just kidding, no contest going, because I would certainly lose.

The exercising is just starting up, as I was running every day, but now it’s every other day. That’s mainly because I think I was doing more harm than good by pushing myself too hard. Yikes!

Well, that is all for now. I’ll be posting pics as soon as I can…
